To provide our customers handcrafted oils that are all-natural, flavorful and healthy which evoke traditional roots in Europe and a newfound home in California.
In October 2002, the 150 year old French artisan oil mill, Les Huileries de la Croix Verte et la Tourangelle (HCVT), and California Oils Corporation partnered to create the La Tourangelle Artisan oil mill in Woodland, California. A family-owned business, HCVT sent one of their son Matthieu Kohlmeyer then 24, to launch and manage the new mill. The Kohlmeyer family built their California mill to produce high quality artisan oils and bring a complete collection of specialty oils to discerning Americans. In June 2003, after Maitre-Mouliner, Artisan roaster Wesley Coombs trained with his French counterpart, La Tourangelle produced its first batch of roasted walnut oil. Each batch of walnuts are hand selected, sun-dried and roasted to perfection. The resulting paste is then expeller pressed and lightly filtered. La Tourangelle also produces roasted almond oil, roasted pistachio oil, roasted pecan oil, white and black truffle infused grapeseed oils in California. Other oils in La Tourangelle collection include a roasted hazelnut oil handcrafted in its French oil mill, Grapeseed oil handcrafted in Chile, Toasted Sesame Oil from Japan, 100% organic canola oil and 100% organic sunflower oil, an Extra Virgin Olive oil imported from France and a delicious Avocado Oil.
